Comic Jumper Parodies Conan
Comic Jumper, the next game from 'Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel, will send players through four distinct comic book worlds. We've already seen what the first comic will look like, and today Twisted Pixel unveiled the next world our hero Captain Smiley will jump to. Nanoc the Obliviator is a comic book parody of the Conan books of the '70s. Nanoc is an able-bodied fighter – or at least he used to be, before he developed an eating disorder and really put on the pounds. He and his people are in danger, and only Captain Smiley can help them.
RayStorm HD Review
RayStorm was first delivered to Japanese arcades in 1996 by Taito (a developer that knows a thing or two about shooters since it made the first one – Space Invaders) and was ported to the original PlayStation the following year. A vertically-scrolling shooter, it was pretty impressive back in the day and earned a 7.5 from IGN for making "use of the PlayStation's hardware beautifully." Thirteen years later it's back on Xbox Live Arcade with touched up visuals. While it's a perfectly playable shooter that offers a few thrills, today RayStorm HD isn't unique enough to stand out in a crowded genre. It's definitely not on the same level as, say, Ikaruga.
Charlie Murder Delayed, Now Planned for XBLA
We got our first look at punk rock beat 'em up Charlie Murder at PAX East a couple months ago. Sounds like we won't get the finished version for quite some time, though, as developer James Silva tells Joystiq he is going back to the drawing board and reworking Charlie Murder for an Xbox Live Arcade release in 2012. The game was previously planned to be an Xbox Live Indie Game.
